Subs in the rear speaker locations - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #61176 5 posts Started by Legit94GT
So i have seen people fit 6x9's into the rear speaker locations with some slight moddifications and keeping it look stock, i am wondering if i can squeeeezzzzee in some 8" subs into that location while keeping the facotry plastic. So that it still looks stock from the outside.

I was thinking i could use a thin sub, i know JL Audio make a 13" sub that is only 2.5, and pioneer makes a 10" thin one... but i was wondering if anyone has any expeirence with thin subs from other companies, or if anyone has tried to hide some subs back there before?

have you ever taken the rear panel off??? the only way i see it happening is with some crazy fiberglass work after chunking out the rear speaker + bracket..

your better off fitting some high quality 6 inch subs and running a small amp to them.....the rear subs from an Audi TT coupe with bose would be a good bet, i loved the way they sounded on my friends TT and the best thing is they dont need an enclosure..
Idk about using the stock bracket, but Kicker makes some awesome 8" midbass subs. They also make 6.5s but I wouldn't bother with those

One o'dem crazy Canadian freaks, eh?
Slight thread ressurection but here's my 8's in a MDF enclosure.

It's not perfect. The volume is near perfect (Most 8's need 0.3 cubic feet) but the joins aren't great and the subs cost £15 delivered off ebay. I'l start saving for JBL's soon

Ive put Genesis 6x9 subs in my rear quarter panels, they dont need sealed enclosures and sound great. I made mdf baffles to mount them onto instead of cutting up teh stock plastic bracket.
