Stalling problem - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #61444 8 posts Started by Shakster007
Hi guys
My first post and happy to be here!
My 3s-ge starts and runs fine, but it stalls every now and then. Always when it is warmed up. The revs just go right down and it either goes off or splutters a bit and recovers.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Ok well when does it happen ohter then warmed up? Does is happen when u step on the gas? Can you repeat the stall anytime u want? Kinda need more info. Do u have any aftermarket mods i should know about 2 help diagnose the problem?

Never happens except when the car's temperature is at normal operating. Never happens when stepping on the gas, in fact if it happens and I get to the gas in time I can rev it and it stops from stalling. I can't repeat the stall myself, it mainly happens when slowing down or coming to a stop like when I'm parking, but sometimes it doesn't happen at all.
No mods, cept a bodykit and alloys.
I recently had the following changed:

engine oil
oil filter
air filter
brakes

and just recently:

timing belt kit
fanbelt
gearbox oil

the problem was there before the service but seems to be worse now.
On an average 30 minute stop-start local drive, it stalls about 4 times. Mind you, I was driving it less till I had the timing belt changed.

Thanks
Sounds like an ignition problem. Could be just the rotor or rotor cover. Check the rotor cover and rotor for cracks. Its only about $20 for both new hopefully thats all it is.

i had the same exact problem i just reset the air fuel mixture and that seemed to work for me.
i checked the rotor and it seems fine. I have been watching the revs a lot more closely recently and noticed that the needle fluctuates very slightly when idle, sometimes it goes right down and almost stalls. interestlingly it hasn't ever stalled when parked, usually when coming to a stop or slowing down.
