Water inside. - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #61480 18 posts Started by parriehunter
Not sure if this will be in the right topic but here goes.

Today I found that the carpet on the drivers side and only the drivers side is wet. Its definitely not coolant.

So I started having a look at the seals, there seems to be one randomly hanging down under the grill that sits at the bottom of the windscreen (outside) and above the bonnet/hood.

Could it be because of that seal? can you get to taht seal by removing the grill? I am going to try do that tonight and reglue the seal to whereever it came from.

Rust hole on the floor?
Heater core? My experience with wet d/s carpet is bad heater core.
I had a problem with leaking when it rained... the water would run from the drivers side of the hood, near the latch.. it would run down behind the fender.. land on the wire bundle that goes into the car.. and would drip straight down...

I took some sealant and covered that up, so far its ok..

Hey thanks for the replys,

I dont think its the heater core, had that go on my other car and you could the coolant. This water is clean and clear,

How would the water come up through the floor? the water develops after stting outside.

Hey jaws where do the wires come into the car? is it in the enigne bay?

the wires i'm talking about came in near the door hinge.. on the inside of the car, underneath you will see a huge bundle of wires coming in, its right above that where they actually come into the car.. I think it has a yellow cover on them..

There are several pass-thru's located on the firewall. Check to see if it is wet in the engine bay, and maybe it's leaking in thru there...

Do you have a sunroof? If so it's likely one of your drain tubes is clogged; it probably runs down along the A pillar and that's where it would be leaking in I think. I'm not positive about this - but see if your driver's side rear is wet along the floor too. It probably won't be as wet - but check it anyhow. If you've got a sunroof, and it's been rainy lately, that's where my money would be.

IDK what I was thinking w/the heater core, that would be the passenger side anyway smile.gif
No sunroof. The back was wet as well but like you said not as wet.

Ill check the engine bay. it didn't seem wet when i looked the other day but ill check again.

Cheers.

Finally been able to dry the car out and have moved the carpet up. its definitely leaking from the front. the engine bay was wet. dont know how its getting in. have taken some photos.

it was wet the whole way along. it was pooling there. its frothy because i decided to wash my car at the same time.

this is from inside.

Also now have a really bad leak rear left. around the speaker it was wet. this is new as i have never seen it wet. also have a photo for that. The seat was swmming.

this is at the rear. the plastic is semi dry before i got my camera.
how hard is it to remove all those plastic panels?

HELP!!!!!!

Nah they werent but i was thinking that is probably it. ill get those plastic panels off and silicone it up.

any ideas on where in the front would be leaking?

I've had the same problem off and on with my GTZ, i thought i fixed it unclogging a tube from my condenser to the fire wall. That didnt work either carpets still gettin wet, and smells. confused.gif

Sorry, no animated sigs allowed.
I found why the rear was leaking. the bracket that goes into the hatch broke and was stopping the seal from working.

Also I think the front is leaking as one of tyhe guys said previously. becuse when i put water into the grill below the windscreen the water starts to leak in the car. the other water runs down around the wheel well.
So i am guessing that once i get the wheel off and have a look hopefully i will see where the water is getting in.

Thank You all.

Finally found the leak. where the cables come in inside the front right fender the grommet had popped out.
i pushed it back in and siliconed the poop out of it so it shouldn't leak again. smile.gif

What a mission it was to get the splash guard off. those TRD skirts made getting the bottom part out almost impossible.
Its done.

Again Thank You All espically Jaws4God.

Cheers
