Is there anyway to swap the original transmission of the 94 6th gen 1.8 with an much closer ratio transmission? I really love aceleration more then top end speed. Is the transmission from on gt4 any good?

The GT-4 tranny is meant for rally racing and they rely more on acceleration that top speed so yeah it would be good. Do you have an ST? The best thing to get more acceleration is to get more power. To get that you will probably have to do an engine swap, or some sort of custom application.

If he's got a 1.8L, he's got an ST.

As far as I know, a GT-4 Transmission will not work, they are for AWD.

I am gonna buy an celica. 94 hatchback st. Im still studiying. Im 19 years old. Im gonna buy the celi as soon as i get the cash. I just want to accelerate very fast. Cant i adjust the gears in the transmission?

I don't think that you can. Don't quote me cuz I don't know much about the ST tranny. You could possibly change the gears. That would definitely change your acceleration.

I was only giving him an option cuz HE asked about it. So I told him. And with the right amount of cash it will work.

the gt4 tranny is for the gt4 4wd system. unless your making it 4wd its not gonna work. the st tranny can be rebuilt and the gears could be changed, trd sells the parts. i have a tranny from my 20v i was going to swap but i canceled it. im just going to swap the tranny now. it should have the same gear ratio but i dont know for sure yet. i will post after i install it. but the tranny does have an LSD which is what i am swapping in favor for.
