Saw a Gt-4 - 6G Celicas Forums

There's only to genuine ST205's? How do you guys know?

I wish I could get my hands on one, when I move back to Europe I might do it.
I think it was probably just a conversion, you can easily make any other 6th gen celi look like a 6th gen GT-4.

I have a 1990 All-Trac. wink.gif

I think that's not entirely true. To the best of my knowledge, there's an actual GT-Four in Ohio or Indiana. It was for sale about a year or so ago, I believe it sold for around 15k. I believe it's RHD and everything.

Edit: I just read the last post you made... d'oh! Sorry!

As far as I know there is only 1 gt-4 driving the streets in the states. it was on ebay twice about two years ago... wasn't in the greatest of shape, but it was real. Very shady situation regarding the registration I believe, which explains, I think, why it went up for sale again so quickly after the first sale. You can search old posts on this forum for info. Check back around 2006 I think.

The best way to tell if it's really a GT4 is to check for axles and a differential on the back end of the car. If those are there it's either a GT4 or someone actually completed a rear end conversion. Otherwise it's just a sheep in wolf's clothing like mine.

yes, i remember that one too - it was a red one.
there was another red one, may have been the same one?? it had a swapped VIN on it & was registered/titled as an ST in Vermont or somewhere in that area i think.
i know of another one that is white that is a real ST205 here in the US - it is not being driven at this time to my knowledge.
the only other ST205 i can think of that isn't a conversion is a silver one that some place in FL was trying to sell a year or 2 back .. not sure what happened to it though or how it was registered etc.

no prob griffgirl smile.gif

All of the above is basically true. I had looked into those last year. I couldn't find much of anything on the silver one but the red one has had a somewhat public history. It's the one from the NE that kept changing hands due to registration issues.

only two I know of and I've personally seen one.

first, the red one everyone is talking about from NH (pictured, next to presure2s and mine - way long time ago),

it floated around ebay for a long time and he sold it to a guy in ohio and he was selling it here

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=54041

and FORGMANN aka 95WRC, he has a white one.

more ? probably but they're not on 6gc.

I have a st205 front end and a 3rd gen 3sgte (from a st205 duh) and other than celiman05 who did the st205 & AWD conversion (pics here) on his ST (who sold that to Gman) I have probably one of the closest 205 conversions that anyone could have in the US that I know of.

I'll never have a real GT-Four so for now I'm content with having a real GT-Two, all the others with 2nd gen swaps and 205 bodys have half-tracs (no offence guys but it is what it is).

>What's the difference between Group A and Type A?

Group A is the homologation versions of the ST185's and ST205's needed for racing in WRC and a few australian events.

The 150 Group A Rallye ST185 were delivered into Australia, (called Carlos Sainz in eu and RC in japan) they had the water to air intercoolers (insted of air to air like the poverty pack ST185 GT-Fours), taller ratio gearbox's with double synchros, the Group A front bar, venting bonnet (insted of bonnet scoop like the poverty pack 185), different ecu and about 15kw more power then the pov 185. Group A Rallyes in australia only came in in 1991 and are each individually badged with their number out of the 150 and carlos sainz signature on it. LSD rear diff.

the type A is a jdm only luxury spec 185, had all the options possible and as far as im aware only came out in charcoal grey/black.

engine and gearbox/performance wise they are the same as any other jdm st185.

They were equipped with leather interior, the system 10 stereo, crusie control, climate control air con, electric seats w. lumbar support, air bag, retractable mirrors, sunroof, there is prob a few options i have missed out but you get the point. They were only made in 1990 i believe

The Group A Rallye ST205 was only delivered in 1994, there was only 77 of them each with a plaque and a number (mine is 61), 17 had a moonroof (mine is one of those), there was only really 1 option and that was te moonroof. Specs are:

antilag, water injection, leather interior, intercooler spray bar, 5mm bigger throttle body then the 185, wta intercooler, 180kw in aussie trim (about 20kw more then the 185) weights about 70kg less then the group a 185. tripple synchros in gearbox with better ratios, LSD centre and rear diff, air con, bonnet spoiler, headlight washers. The rest of the stuff you all prob know about.

note that the antilag, water injection are in place but not connected as the stock ecu cant control them.
the intercooler spray bar is controlled with a button like the headlight washers.

that's some interesting information... i want a group A gt-four now..

btw, i've always wondered why there's an 'e' at the end of Rallye??

Thanks Cuts.
Cuts - are the ST205 Group A Rallye transmission gear ratios different from a regular ST205 E154F transmission?
I'm just curious & can't find any specs anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help smile.gif

cool. I just didn't know if the e154f box in a regular ST205 was any different to the box in a homologated WRC version like what you have Cuts - since those had anti-lag on the manifold (not hooked up) sprayer bar for the heat exchanger & other little differences from just an unnumbered regular ST205 edition.
