I was just wondering which would be a better option.
Getting uprated discs and pads for the standard ST calipers,
or changing to GT calipers using standard discs and pads?
Any info much appreciated.

I don't think you can change the fronts to GT brakes and calipers, but you can swap the rear drum brakes for the rear GT disc brakes and that will give you better overall braking.

I wonder why this misinformation has been passing around here lately? GT calipers WILL WORK (I'm running them myself). Unless of course if by 'caliper' you're not including the bracket... which you SHOULD include everytime you say 'caliper'... then no, the GT calipers piston assembly (minus bracket) won't fit on the ST caliper brackets, but the FULL GT calipers and bracket will swap over and bolt-on.

by caliper i just meant what ever is needed.
Is it worth while price compared to gains.
Or will better pads do the same thing?
So if to chamge to gt, its Calipers, brackets, pads and discs i need? anything else?

If you have good brakes on your ST, upgrading to GT brakes won't make that much of a difference.

When I swapped out the rear drums for disc brakes, I thought the ST fronts looked like they were the same size as the GT rears. It was strange looking to me, that's pretty much the reason I decided to put GT fronts in also. I had good brakes with the ST setup and noticed little to no difference in braking power with the GT setup, I think the little difference I did notice was probably all psychological. But if nothing else, it looks much better.

I've noticed cars with 4 wheel disc brakes wont brake fade as much, since I put new pads in all of my brakes I haven't felt the brakes fade once and they're stock brakes.
