Is the dimmer switch hooked up and turned all the way clockwise? The lights will not function without the dimmer hooked up.

yes,could that be bad?
everything can go bad. My suggestion is to find a friend nearby who will let you borrow his for a minute so you can eliminate that as a potential problem. After that take a multimeter and make sure it is getting power in and out of the dimmer.

Good point. Are the only problem lights in the gauge cluster or are there problems elsewhere in the dash/center console?

only the green lights on the buttons will come on .the unit itself not lighting up.shouldnt it light up
Blown fuse most likely.
remember that sometimes they don't look blown even when they are - replace it anyway to eliminate the possibility.

Damn - stumping all the usual suspects - guess we'll have to dig a bit deeper. Let me do some thinking, in the meantime maybe someone else might have some info.
