OK here goes.

I hooked mine up to a 3sgteRC.
not sure if the wire colors are the same for 5s and 3s....

Not sure if the 7a and 5s are the same.

The unit has three wires. Black, Red, Green(in mycase)

Black goes to ground. The red goes to positve, like the cig lighter.
Green or signal wire connects to the solid black wire on your ignitor in the engine bay.

In my 2nd picture, The thick black wire with the red cap goes to the distributor, that one??? and how would you splice into that??? its meant to be EMF shielded???

Or does it mean the black wire in the middle of that black connector with 5 wires on it on the right?

i would assume it's on the big connector on the right as it leads back inside the cabin to the ECU or tachometer.. it definitely isn't the one that's on the left that goes to the distributor.

Ah ha! If you cant find the ignition negative for RPM signal or don't want to splice into it you can find one handy in the diagnostics case labeled IGN-
