Other Toyota alternators - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #62259 8 posts Started by GotToyota
Are there other Toyota alternators that will work with our cars? I have a spare one from a MK3 Supra, and mine is on it's way out.

Similar to my topic, you should find out whther an Lexus alternator would fit then tell me, hahah laugh.gif

Heard the auto celica is 75amps, so a 5amp increase but not entirely sure on cabling, then you cud get one of a GT4 celica they are 80amp ouput and cant see the wiring being much difference. Cant help on the Supra fitment tho, i thought generally if its the same manufacturer they have the same stud pattern, but would get a second opinion before purchase

Auto 6gc GT is 80amp, Manual is 75amp and the ST-185 GT4 [2nd gen 3s-gte] is 100amp - just for your info. wink.gif
I think only the auto/manual alts are interchangeable - pretty sure the 3S one won't just drop right in but anyone is welcome to come compare mine to theirs if they want. As you can see I've been down this road before and the best solution I found was to keep a healthy stock alt. Lifetime warranties work wonders towards this end [Never bring your car when you change the alt out at the store - they may want to check under your hood and trunk in which case you are SOL wink.gif ].

LOL so the Supra one won't work?
Not likely but take yours loose and get them next to each other and see what's what. Another thing to consider is pulley size and RPM vs output - it does have an effect.

It won't work. The harness plugs are different. frown.gif
Actually Matt - that's the easy part. Will the mounting setup work?

The mounting looks dead on with the Celica alternator.
