how to take off fender? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #62262 14 posts Started by Add45
Help anyone?

the passenger side...
I know it sounds kinda obvious. But you need to remove all those bolts. I cant remember exactly how many there are. Location are on all 4 sides of the fender. I think its 3 under the hood, three that connect it to the bumper cover (behind the splash guard by the lights), ummm....some underneath the car (be careful as they may be rusted and can break easy...happened to me) and the others are by the door (you can see them when you open the door all the way).

u basically covered it haha.

you will def need a socket extention for the ones connected to the bumper.

You've also got 2 holding it in under your door behind the front most part of the side skirt. And the one behind the door he was talking about; it's right by your windshield arm. you'll have to open the door all the way to get to it, you'll need an extention. They are all 10MM except for the splash gaurd ones, they'll require a large philips head. biggrin.gif

(i only know because i've been doing my bodywork last weekend, and have had to remove these things daily for the last week rolleyes.gif

Yeah I forgot by the two under the door. Been while since I removed it. They are right, an extension helps a lot. Or if you have an extra kid laying around you can use their little arms, cause they can get into all kinds of tight spots. Thats why I had one, to get all the spots I cant get.

Oh man, Mine hasn't been modified for that kind of work yet. I suppose i need to let her sprout a bit more, but she's working on it. (7mos) Although shes being honed... Already she does throw her toys, rattlers, pacifiers or w/e is in her hands when she sees my big wrenches. I've got a pic of that somewhere... She loves those big shiny wrenches thumbsup.gif

Mine at 13yo can install your interior flawlessly and do oil changes/tuneups biggrin.gif Tho it does cost a bunch of money to grow your own mechanics assistant - it is indeed well worth it.

Yeah, Im waiting for my daughter to get older (shes only 8 months now, so I got a ways to go) so I can have her help. My wife and I are going to get her the Ryobi play tools. Little drills, chainsaws, etc...
you can take apart most of a celica with a 10mm socket.

all toyota use 10mm. there is occasionally a dif size here and there but the majority is 10mm

when in doubt, bust that 10mm out tongue.gif

The perimeter bolts are easy enough. But the bracket welded to the front of the fender is attached with 2 studs and nuts directly below the headlight (low beam). You must take out the headlight to get to them. But to get the headlight out you need to remove the bumper.

Other than that, it's easy wink.gif
