So i am dynamatting my doors today, and maybe my rear quaterpanels

Do i want to put all of it on the metal part of the inside of my doors and quaterpanels or on the plastic pieces?

I believe i want it on the metal structure as that will make the most noise, but i just went throught like a million threads and alot of people put it on the plastic parts of the door as well??

Just looking for some other opinions on this...

I added extra soundproofing on the outer skin of the door, and then dynamatted the inner skin, but remember once you do the inner skin you wont be able to get to the outter again so make sure you do a good job (may have got that back to front, but you know wot i mean). Make sure all the surfaces are clean, used meth spirit to clean mine, and then heated all sound proofing material up using a hairdryer so it was super sticky, makes it last longer apparently. Neva even touched the plastic bits with sound proofing, and dont get any rattles coming from the door, plus you can do that later if you find you are getting rattles.

It all depends on what you're going for.

If you're trying to get the road noise down, I would put the matting on the actual metal part of the door frame. However if you are going for less internal rattles (especially from the speakers) I would place it on the actual plastic and around the speaker cone itself (put rubber grommets on the speaker as well).

If you want both, then do both. Plain and simple.

Well I bought some padding to help with the road noise to put on the outer skin, and bought some dynamat to help with the bass for the inner skin... i just started tearing stuff apart, but i cant get th back seat out!!! lol time to search the forums

Haha once i took my back seat out i neva put it back in, theres now a large sub where my passengers should be, lol. The drop down bits of the seats come out first once the nuts either side have been take down, push down where the brackets are and they slide out away from the middle harness. Think the base is forcibly removed with a yank upwards from the front middle, hope that helps or even makes sense

Ya i figured it out, you have to remove the folding part first no i know lol

I am just prepping the metal and pre cutting all the foam to put under the back seat and rear deck lid...

Ya if i had a hatch i'd probablly remove the back seat and make a custom enclosure for everything, but since im a coupe i just have my whole trunk filled up with subs and my amp;)

So what have you guys done with that giant hole in the door? did you just go over the top of it or did you make a piece of board to fill up that spot?

well 13 hours later... its almost done lol i got to go pick up some plastic snap things i broke off then i can finish buttoning her up...

sounds great no rattle, NONE, and the ride is noticeably quiter... i'll make another thread with all the pics this afternoon...
