Hey all,

I have a 1996 Toyota Celica ST. The A/C compressor is frozen and needs to be replaced. I have had the A/C checked for leaks and there isn't any. I plan on replacing the compressor myself but i have some questions.

I'm going to replace the compressor and drier, but do i REALLY need to replace the expansion valve? I know i should but think i could get away without doing it?

Anyone who has replaced the expansion valve, how hard was it? The dash needs to come off correct? or is it possible to get to it without doing so?

Any tips?

You might as well if you want to do it right the first time.

From what I remember, you'll only need to take out the glove box to get to it.

Not very difficult to replace it, but change out all the o rings while you're at it.

After getting everything done, get it vacuumed so that you don't have any moisture inside the lines.

Then turn your car on and blast your ac on full blast and charge it with a pressure gauge.

You might want to read through Chiltons or Haynes manual just in case.
