ok so being that my 5s motor is now dead and my car is sitting in my back yard, im now looking to buy my 3s swap. i have been searching and reading and doing tons of homework on what to put in but im just wondering if theres any websites that i should not tust to sell me a motor. or if theres any websites that are deffinately trust worthy? anything i should watch out for while shopping for the 3sgte?... thanks and sorry if that was a stupid question
3sgte shopping - 6G Celicas Forums
Most engine salvage shops will do (or tell you) that they've done a compression test, You deff wanna see some prof. Otherwise, you may be buying another dead engine.

buy an engine from these guys. Pics might look good but trust me, me cousin used to do their swaps and i've been there a few times
It's a huge familly that have other shops such as Tokyo Imports, Nagano & JDM engines...
They all received a **** load of bad comments on www.montrealracing.com/forums which is the tunning reference here
They sold a ST202 swapped with a 3sgte as a GT-FOUR ST205
They sold a dead motor to my friend: the crank shaft had eaten all the interior
>>Believe me, NEVER buy their engines.>>
If you wanna buy something from up here, go with

this probably wont help you but I have a 2nd gen 3sgte longblock with intake and exhaust manifolds. youll need to buy a turbo and all the electrical stuff. but its a totally rebuilt 0 miles engine. All toyota parts were used except it has a cometic HG and ARP head studs. lemme know if your interested. oh I also have a CT26 to t3 manifold adapter to put a bigger turbo on like say a GT30 or smaller like a GT28rs or something.
94' ST Coupe - 5sfe Motor swap and brake swap.
Try JHOT Imports, these guys are seriously the most legit people I've ever dealt with. They sent me a motor so complete, it was even better than a front clip imo. I just recently bought a 1jz-gte motorset from them and they included everything you could possibly need.

lol thanks. seemed kinda weird that they sold most motors for so cheap
i never actually bought a motor, but it seems like there are a lot of them coming out of canada. maybe try to find an old all trac celica or mr2 and just swap it out of there. note that wherever you get a new motor from the is gonna be a ton of wok involved, no matter the state of the engine.

I've been wondering about all this as well... I thought tiger was good... people recommended it in the past. any particular reason why we shouldn't buy from them? overpriced? defective motors? late shipping? poor packaging? ect
at the same time what makes JHOT so good? anyone want to offer their experience with them?

lol. If the doc says dont, then >>DON'T!!>>
I'd take Dr.Tweaks word for it, mind you he runs a swap-shop (performance shop rather) so for him to come out of the blue like that, he's probably been burned by them before.
Currently the doc is touring around (again) doing "away-from home" projects here in Texas. I'm just hoping he'll stop by houston and wrack me up an estimate

Has anyone hurd of Jarcoinc.com from Georga? I've called them up a few times and they've been helpful. They have video's of the motors in the car running and boosting and showing the tach how many miles that they have on them, and send everything encluding the tach with a good warranty. A lil pricey but you get what you pay for..
bump
It seems that I talk to at least one person every week that has bought an engine from tigerjapanese and either:
1. Was sold as having a complete harness and ECU, and instead has a cut harness or NO harness at all
2. Is not the right engine
3. Is completely locked up and needs a full rebuild
Apparently they have absolutely no customer service as well, if you have a problem, they will NOT help you. At all.
Jarco was the best importer in the US, until they came under the scrutiny of the EPA this past year and stopped importing JDM engines altogether.
At this present time, I don't have any importer that's a favorite really. I'm working on it though.

Try http://www.elitejdm.com/
I was at their shop a few weeks ago and they are really good stand up guys. They have 2 clean st185 clips in stock right now.
You can also use Ebay. Thats where I got my clip from, and its been running strong for 4 1/2 yrs.
Btw, Tweak... Jarco must be the only one having issues with getting clips/engines. I talked to a few places that I know of, and they havent had any issues with customs at all.

Well, I bought a 3VZ-FE engine from tigerjapanese about 2-3 years ago to replace the one in my family's 92 Lexus ES300. It started right up after the swap and has passed emissions. That's just my experience though. I really should do a compression test on her though, she feels weaker than my brother's 93 ES300 and my sister's 93 Camry V6 XLE, both of which is the 3VZ-FE engine. As you can see, we're a Toyota family
I sale my motor
Toyota 3S GTE MR2 94+

Horse Power / Torque: 245hp @ 6000 rpm / 225lbs @ 4000 rpm
price 1500 USD , is ok, compression OK ,.. jaja ok all , i change for a 3sgte 4ta gen

I just bought a 3rd gen 3sgte out of a st205 from Jhot, came with a lot of extra parts. So when I get it I'll do a compression test and run it and see there as good as they say they are.
