Ok, I was fixing my car today and noticed it said ST204 on the firewall. I always thought our cars were ST202. SO where the heck did ST204 and ST202 come from? Did I just make up ST202? I could have sworn I seen that in regards to our car parts. What is the difference? Is there even one? Does it mean anything if there are both?

iirc, st204 is the american GT.

st202 is the japanese SS series...

i think >__> can someone confirm?

Yeah, i think cars with the 5S-FE are ST-204. US and some Aus GT's have them. 3S-GE cars are ST-202, so UK EU and JDM.

it is a beit weird my ST205WRC has the ST205 stamped on the bulkhead which is no problem,, but my Carlos Sainz ST185 had ST182 and it was UK specced car, couldn't get my head around the reason why

st204 = 5sfe with macpherson strut

st202 = 3sge with super strut and limited slip diff I think

correct me people if I'm wrong

As i said above, ST202 has 3S-GE. Not necessarily SuperStrut or anything else.

Yup, the st204 was just a minor change to the chassis to allow for the US engines (specifically the mount point locations).

Chassis codes don't record such trim details. They only tell you what engine series (S-block or A-block for Celicas), base design (T for FWD Celica), generation (18 = fifth, 20 = sixth), and engine model (0 = 4AFE or 7AFE, 2 = 3SGE, 3 = 3SGE w/ four-wheel steering, 4 = 5SFE, 5 = 3SGTE).

so what JDM celica has the 4S-FE a 1.8L?

its the ST203 with 4WS its true I saw one for sale.
