ok I bought a 12" Kenwood W3003 sub in a big ported box (for two 12's) that barely fits in my trunk. First off i don't know much about Kenwood, anybody know how good the sub is? Right now it's bridged to a Profile California 240 watt amp and sounds decent. It's rated for 600 watts peak though so i know it would sound a lot better with something bigger. I'm planning on keeping the 12 and buying another 12" and a bigger amp to run them both, and building a new unported box to put them in. A couple more questions... Is the W3003 i have worth keeping, and if so what is another good kenwood 12" to pair it with. or should i just sell the Kenwood and get 2 new subs. I will be building the size of the box to the speakers specs, but was wondering what other people on here have done. I'm especially interested in coupe installs. i saw a really nice coupe setup on here the other day. um ya thats about it. I'm open to any advice/comments. Thanks

I don't really like the Kenwood Subs, So I would sell that one when ever u get your double box built. I would recommend some Alpine Type R or S what ever fits your budget.

get the dual 2 ohm voice coil models


friend bought those and holy crap they sound good

also got a planet audio 850D amp (its refurbished but works amazing) came with remote gain controller and it makes those subs pound. cd skips, rear wiper bounces, etc. ITS LOUD

and it sounds really good too

go with a small sealed box if you dont want to take up much room

they have them on ebay for like 30 bucks

I've always been a little skeptical about buying stereo components off ebay. Scared of getting bunk stuff. I've heard of a few people now that have had good luck with subs and stuff though so I might give it a try. Thanks for the input. I think I am going to scrap this Kenwood sub and just go with 2 new subs. I'll check out the Alpine type R's. They sound mean.

I have a phoenix ZX500 pushin 2 JL audio 12w3d4. and they hit HARD!!! I have 2 tickets to prove it!!. I have my box "molded" into the rear beteween the strut towers, and plexi on the interior side w/ blue led accents. I get compliments on it all the time and it only took me a few hours to build.
