im alt the last parts of pulling my engine was wondering it it is earier to just unplug everything and avoid having to pull the whole harness through the firewall or do it the way alldata is describing it which is unbolting from the firewall and pulling the harness with the engine

I think everyone would have a different opinion about that.
I think it's easier to take the harness out with the engine because when you're ready to put it back in it's easier to plug everything in and make sure you got all the plugs and ground points on the back with the engine is out.

I just swapped my motor. It's alot easier to just pull the harness through first and pulling with the engine. It takes two seconds to get the harness through.
I agree, take the harness through the firewall and remove w/ engine

ok thanks guys i appreciate the help now too find an engine lol was looking on ebay and when i look for 5sfe it mostly shows the jdm 2.0 engine 3sfe i believe would i be loseing alot of power going that route?? what is the best stock motor i can get and work with hopping it up? is the 5sfe my best bet i can get one of those pretty cheap....also i have never installed a manual tranny is it pretty complicated? can i reuse the pilot bearing?? should i have to change the flywheel?
Maybe you mean the JDM 3SGE, in which case you really wouldn't be losing a whole lot of power. The 3SFE is usually found in the states in Rav4's and the like. It all depends on your goals, but if you're looking for a plug and play option then another 5SFE would be your best choice.
When putting the tranny back on you should replace the clutch and throwout bearing and have your flywheel resurfaced.

Agreed i did the same when switching my engine. Makes the difference.

Just get the whole clutch kit - it'll come with a new pressure plate, clutch plate and TOB. Don't cheap out on it either - I know from experience that if you get cheap parts, you get equal performance and reliability out of it! And it is critical that you get your flywheel resurfaced. That's another common thing to cheap out on that you'll pay the price for later.

thanks for the info the car just spun a bearing a few days ago the clutch was like new for the most part
Id go 3rd or 4th gen 3SGE 180hp+, once its all out do yourself a favour and don't get the 5sfe, they are known for a long lasting engines but have a good 50hp less than the 3rd gen 3SGE and uses equal ammounts of fuel.
