and it is RHD, imported from japan.

He says there is no carfax for it as its from japan.
is this true?

Japan is much more advanced then the US. Their cars don't use carfax because faxing is an old and outdated technology.

This is indeed a well known fact about japan. Every car has a little chip in it that records accidents, average speed, average rpm and length between oil changes.

This system is coming stateside in February but its been in Japan for like 15 years now.

japan does not use carfax, as is usa technology. The best way to figure it out is to call Mitsubishi Japan, ask who the 1st owner was, ask him if he had an accident, then ask he who he sold the car to and ask him the same question, and so on and so on, you get the picture.
