ok so I have 2 12s with 695 watts rms at 2 ohms powering them
it sounds like absolute ass from the outside, its embarrassing
I know there are many threads on this, but it seems no one has found a solution
I have fixed the rattling in the doors, the trunk floor, and the license plate itself
but the license plate bezel still rattles terribly
this is the part I mean, NOT THE ACTUAL LICENSE PLATE

Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
I will spend $300 on deadener if it will stop the rattling, but a lot of people say it does not work.

get some little rubber pieces and glue them between the plate and the holder,that should work..

why dont u buy strips that can stick the license plate and the car itself like doublesided foam tape. easy fix? or take off the license plate holder haha

I have an easier solution than taking anything off and adding foam or anything..

Way back in the day, like a year ago, I had a 1,500 watt amp powering a Kicker L5. It was INSANELY LOUD! Anyway, you want to talk about rattling stuff, this thing could literally make the ground shake if you put your feet next to the tires during a good song. Since I had it pointed towards the rear of the car, it rattled the license plate bezel like you wouldn't believe. (Fried my battery on day 2 and the alternator a while after I took the sub out . Funny story hahahah) My solution to keep stuff from rattling was simply to turn it up louder! If you can't fix the rattling, drown it out

Man, I was a young and stupid kid back then. Just so you guys know, I had that sub 3 months and decided I hated all sounds systems and there was a lot to be said for the subtleties of a factory system. I decided that when I realized I couldn't hear what anybody said to me anymore... I was seriously going deaf fast. Sold the whole setup for a grand total for $64. It was 3 months old, and only fully cranked once. Somebody got a GREAT deal! I've since gotten most of that hearing back, or I've learned to read lips better

hmmm ok. i have never heard of anyone using double sided foam, I may try that.
richee I know what you mean. A couple years ago all i wanted was huge bass and i got it.
But I killed my battery and it just got boring after a while.
Now I still want some bass but want it to sound good.
If that is impossible well then I'll ditch the subs.
Its weird though that when you search for this problem so many topics come up, yet no one has come up with an answer.

Have you layered your trunk with dynamat?

just ~$40 of dynamat and then some cheap stuff from Home Depot
if i were to re-do it i would use B-quiet, proven to be better than dynamat

buy some sponges and put them between the bezel and the body of the car, worked great for mine.

Put some rubber or foam between the bezel and other stuff (and in your ears).

I used these sticky little pads to stop the rattling and they worked great. Takes about a minute to do.

The ones I used are probably 1/4" in diameter. I put them behind the license plate and the bezel and it worked like a charm.

Probably. Any hardware store should have them. I think we use them as cupboard stops so they don't slam shut.

Yeah Promasta, it got VERY old. After I took that system out, I replaced it with a 200 watt amp and a 10" sub just to add to the music. But I got sick of even after that.

GEpower, I think he did read my story. He said he used to want the most bass possible but now he realizes that he doesn't want that, he just wants something to add to the music.

But seriously, as far as muffling the rattling bezel goes, putting any Dynamat or anything in the trunk would be wasted money. It would cancel out some road noise, but since the bezel is rattling due to vibration, not volume. So Dynamat would be useless. All you can do is exactly what everyone else on here said about putting some sponges or some kind of padding between the bezel and the car.

Also, GEpower did give some good advice.. Foam in the ears helps a lot too.

Dynamat mines and it worked well... now it rattles from the bottom because i dont have a spare tire now and it's empty in there.

I would take it off totally, temporarily fasten some kitchen foil to the car body, then replace the housing and spray loads of expanding foam in there, then once its set, remove the whole housing again, remove the foil (as the foam shouldn't stick to this) and then replace the foam/housing. This will then stop the housing moving at all mate. So you have foam thats stuck to the housing but not the car. (give the housing a good clean first so it'll stick better.)

Put some masking tape over all the screw holes and try to seal the edges of the housing to the car body though otherwise you'll get foam squirting out everywhere.

Should only cost you a few $$, probably won't add as much weight as loads of sound deadening material.

Is there any way to keep the trunk floor from rattling? The little space where teh spare tire goes rattles like crazzy in my car, te license plate garnish isn't a big problem, just the license place itself, and the area where the spare tire goes rattles like crazzy. What have you guys done to stop this?

Two things to think about when finding the rattle 1. the center bezel and 2. the license plate. These are two culprits to check.

well, its pretty getto, but i found a rock that fits perfectly between my license plate and that little tab on the bottom. lol you cant see the rock and it works good.

well its 5 months later and i still haven't done anything about this.
i'm trying to find some hatch plastics to replace my cracked ones then i'm going to get a custom box made that aims the subs at the hatch glass.
i bought like 20 sponges so i'm going to try that first. vsideboy's idea sounds good but i''m worried about foam getting everywhere.
if the trunk floor is rattling make sure your spare is in there and is secured down tightly with the wood piece that goes over it.
and celicast95 you are talking about the plate, not the bezel, the plate is easy to get to stop rattling
