Short throw shifter clearence?? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #64478 11 posts Started by 95st-celica
i was wondering if anyone who has the 7th gen short shifter is having or had problems with the clearence from 1st and 2nd hitting the e-brake?

Heres what i gathered...i dont want to put the spacers in because that would defeat the purpose of the short throw look IMO..i can cut the shifter about an inch and then i think it will be fine but i rather not do that either if i dont have too...OR i was wondering if anyone has ever put a smaller E-Brake handle in? it looks like its 4 pins and the handle itself will come out but has anyone ever done this? pictures? i would really like to put a new one in with a smaller handle, it would look a lot better and i would also have the clearence i would need for the shifter

im 95% sure i will still be able to put it into gear ok but i dont want to be hitting my e-brake everytime i go in 1st or 2nd...F that

correct...i was thinking that aswell and i also thought that it might be because my interior plastics were all messed up but the shifter ass. bolts to the body and the hand brake is bolted to the body so they wouldnt have been altered

the shifter has nothing to do with the plastics.
The shifter is connected to the cables that have nothing to stop them right now.
The clearance will be just fine.
Since you're going to swap you might as well disconnect the cables from the shifter assembly now and remove them, you won't need the ST cables anymore.
