hey all,

we all know 6gc has a strict "NO street racing" policy, so that is not what i'd like to discuss here.
what i would like to discuss is the option of allowing "performance" videos.

for example:
speedo vids (as long as there not in heavy traffic, or racing)
flyby vids,
in car performance vids (again, as long as its not in heavy traffic or racing)
are all things i think we could allow, while still maintaining the no street racing policy.
i'd like to hear all of your thoughts on this, and just to be clear, again, this is not about allowing street racing on the site, we WILL not allow that.
lets keep this discussion on topic, and civil, please.

i like the idea. itll let us show off what our cars can do with out breaking any forum rules haha. im all for it!

I would like this since I keep taking videos but then I never do anything with them since ppl might say they are to much....I would like to be able to show off a few and not keep trying to capture a video that fits within the rules.

they i think it would be ok...we might need to appoint a mod to ONLY mod the multi section to weed out illegal crap..

as much as I love to watch other 6gc show their performance ( as I lack some in that dept ) fly by videos, speedo videos, and such can still serve as prrof against any member on a trial, yes I know, it's not like every single post is being monitored by the police, but just something to be aware.

if 6gc is gonna allow this videos, Perfect. when I get some performance I'll post a video and take it down in a reasonable time.

I think this is a GREAT idea. This site almost NEEDS something like this to get some spark back in here.

But I think there needs to be VERY SPECIFIC guidelines and rules, so there is no BS from the usual crowd.

Questions:
What about one car videoing another car accelerating hard from a roll on the highway (no weaving, no excess of 100mph speeds, yada yada)
What about 2 cars one videoing the other both accelartaing heard for a short while and NOT exceeding the Speed limit of the highway
What about parking lot burnouts
What about parking lot drifting
How fast is to fast to post on an acceleration video (so someone doesn't start to cry I let out at 85-90MPH and there are no such highways with such speed limits in NJ)
What about a WOT drieby
What about 2 cars WOT side by side drive by

Ok, so I KNOW some of the answers to these questions will be "No, not allowed"......I put these in for a reason......So to be VERY CLEAR of what is allowed, and what is not.

if we are gonna appoint a mod i want in haha. im sure there really isnt a reason for another mod just fot that forum tho. and cop wont bust anyone with something small like a fly by or something with no traffic. now say if i posted a vid of me weaving in an out of heavy traffic on the interstate goin a buck 20 than tha would be a good reason for cops. thats why we need little if not any traffic in teh vids. trust me cops wouldnt waste there time with that

even if we are allowed to post fast vids there's no way any of us are going to beat Tufy's video...


As long as it isnt to crazy it should be allowed(mods decision)

It sounds like a good idea, but under the discretion of the rules this'll get out of hand quickly and there's not much of a line between "heavy traffic" and "not too much traffic, could've been dangerous to make this vid or it couldn't have," and it'll turn into a pointless feature.

Well, it's apparently been a sore subject on 6GC and something forbidden the whole time, I don't see how it would be implemented now.

Sweet, cant wait......this has been a long time coming.

I like this idea, should include the autosports in this (drag racing, Auto X, ect...).

I like 96bluevert's idea of autocross and drag racing vids. Personally, I like the idea of having these vids posted, but I do think they should be heavily monitered by the mods. Not necessarily ever for anything illegal, but just so we don't get hundreds of videos of ST's doing 0-100 mph test runs. No offense ST guys, but I don't have ten minutes to waste lol. And my car isn't much better, I wouldn't want you wasting 9 1/2 minutes of your life watching my video. I think if there was a section like this, only videos of actually fast cars or at least something tasteful should be posted. That's just my opinion.

And if a new mod was to be appointed, I nominate playr158. He seems very knowledgeable about everything 6GC and beyond.

EDIT: Actually, I was just thinking about my comment about the ST's doing their runs. There is a thread concerning the speed limiter on a Celica, and a few people with ST's claim their car can do 130. I do want to see that, since more than one person is claiming it. To quote NJCCMD, pictures or it never happened.

i think its an awesome idea...espically for people who are going to be doing auto X and have in car cameras, but also for the streets as well...speedo views up to 110 in an area with no traffic or somewhere like the turnpike where it is safe i think would be a great canidate...drive bys are great because you get to hear the car...and in car cameras are awesome...im fabing up a custom mount just so i can tape myself driving and put a little video together...im actually going to run RCA cables down the seat, under the center console and up to my head unit so i can set the camera and i'll be able to see exactly what im filming...for instance if i want to real quick get a speedo view i can reach next to me, position the camera and look at the screen as to where its pointing instead of trying to eyeball it...plus i can zoom in...i think this forum is in desperate need of a section like this and im 100% all for it...let the fun begin!! everyone here knows the difference between street racing and legal sprinted drivng...i think were still going to get the noobs posting racing videos but they can be filtered out accordingly...LETS DO IT!

Sounds like a good way of encouraging inexperienced drivers to try to 'out-do' each other to me.

If it were me i'd keep it all legal. 0-60's and stuff, not top speeds.... People HAVE been convicted from forum vids...


Will be good to have something new on the site, as long as people are mature about it.

I say do a test run first. Allow it but do the one shot one kill method. Meaning the moment it even looks illegal sut it down. This way people can police their own and everybody can moderate at a certain extent so to speak. One vid looks illegal shut it down. Only reason I say this, is because its a truely fine line and it only takes one wrong person to see it and BAM! issues pop up.

thats not what im looking to have people post.
im talking guys who wanna show how fast theyre cars accelerate, even if it happens to go over 100mph.
if it takes longer than a few seconds to get from 80 to 100, i dont wanna see it, pretty much. lmao
also, flying down the highway for kicks @ 100+ is not gonna fly here as well.
its a tough line to walk, i know, and there is definetly a "grey" area about it, where things will be borderline, and peoples opinions will be split, but hey, what isnt like that in life?

IMO anyone who has a camera has probably taken a vid or 2 at some point.

Is this site encouraging members to take vids ? no.

I've taken a few vids before, I think it should be moderator discression as what gets posted and/or deleted.

accelation vids, speedo/gauge vids, drive by vids, would be good IMO if the poster uses common sense while taking and posting them.

i know you guys have some videos on your computer...you should throw them up right now and say look...this is what is acceptable...dyno pulls, highway pulls, auto x...post them up, espically you pressure, i know art has a video crusin with a supra...its nothing crazy but they both get on it a little bit...im not home but i think i have a couple good accpetable videos to put up as well...everyone knows what is acceptable or not...just no street racing..its as simple as that...if someone wants to post up a video of their 95 st doing 110 then so be it...i use to have fun in my st, just carefull fun thats all...whatever your into..i think we need to get it started!

Here is my take on it...

1. all vids posted in the current mutimedia forum. No need for a new sub section as that would imply that people need to add content that has excessive speeding in it.
2. speed limit rules. no more then 100mph for NA cars, and no more then 120mph for turbo cars. I dont want to see some 16yr old in his ST trying to set a new world record by flooring his car for 30min. I also dont want to see a turbo owner maintain 120+mph for an extended period of time. Do your run, and shut it down. No need to endanger your life or loose your license.
3. no speed limit rules for foreign members. they have different laws then we do. for all we know, that 300mph run was totally legal because the guy was on the autobahn. a lot of those guys also rent out air ports and do runs there, which is perfectly legal.
4. no rules for tracks. this is a given. autox, 1/4mile, circuit tracks...do what you want there and lots of it.

this is a cool idea but going 100mph is just as illegal as street racing and their isnt a way to define clear and unclear roads, or if the "chase car" is racing them (which would prob be how cops would see it)- i think there is too much leeway- what about road course people? i mean no disrespect but i dont think it should be allowed to post acceleration videos like 0-100 (pressure) if we cant post racing, i dont think either is smart but we cant condone one and not the other

IMO id like to see acceleration runs & drive bys from other celicas just to see how'd they compare to mine (7afe, 5sfe, 7afte, 5sfte, 5sgte, 3sfe & 3sge vvti) since there isn't too many good ones on youtube

also with our high res pictures we have to get them ok'd by a mod, maybe get our video ok'd by a mod before its posted, so we dont have any silly ones

also quick question, if you put a camera next to the speedo doing +200km/h and then say this is me doing practice at a race track, how would you prove it?
