Uneven Brake Wear - 6G Celicas Forums

So Today i was swapping to steelies on my 94 Celica I purchased from a fella on this forum.

Anyways, I noticed that my drivers side brake rotor looked putrid, so i looked at the pads and they are almost metal to metal.
Which is lame because I replaced them not even 3 months ago...

I check the other side and its perfectly normal even wear...

What gives?

in luck that the only whee braking you is the one that is messed up.

have it checked. or if you DIY i would start by having somebody press the brake while you check the passenger caliper for movement.

Check your slide pins...also something that does it a bad wheel bearing would cause uneven pad wear on onside of the rotor
Funny you mention the wheel bearing because I have a good feeling the front wheel bearing on both sides arent good because it makes that noise of almost like a oval shaped tire or something.

It also trashed my 2 front tires even though I just got the damn thing aligned not even a month ago.

sounds like your passenger side brake caliper is frozen.

I'd check the calipers first. pull the passenger side caliper off and see if you can collapse it with a c-clamp.

The wheel bearings could be bad, but I doubt that it would be causing the brake wear.

You would be surprised what a bad wheel bearing would do
id agree, a wheel bearing would probably go before a caliper

What's up, agentzero0? Glad to hear you're getting those wheels and tires on!

My stepmom's old Exploder went through bearings like nobody's business. It always made like a roaring or growling when she was going down the highway, and because the bearings were always going bad, she constantly had to replace her tires too. I'd definitely get your bearings checked out. Also, to check and see if the caliper is frozen, jack the front end of the car up. Spin one wheel by hand, then go spin the other. If one is a LOT harder to spin, then it could very well be a frozen caliper.

i reckon its simpler than that. if you've not had the car long and the previous owner had it down to metal on metal before, it scars the disc, its like rubbing your pads up a grinding wheels, eats them away like ****. i know from experience frown.gif
