Yokohama AVID V4S - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #64917 18 posts Started by saleeka
I'm about to replace my tires, and i'm debating between two different tires at the moment. I've got BF Goodrich Traction T/A's on the car now, but I'm contemplating a set of Yokohama AVID V4S tires this time around. With the T/A's, I liked the wet weather/winter traction, but they have been noisy and they haven't worn as even as I'd hoped... Anyone have experience with the Yokohamas at all?

I love Yokohama. I've had the least trouble with those tires than any other brand I've tried and I will stay with them. They probably could be a little better in wet weather but they really aren't bad and are great overall in terms of wear, ride quality, noise, etc.

I also support the Yokohama V4s, those are the same tires I had on my Alltrac Celica. Great tire all around.
had mines for 4 yrs atleast 60000 miles and still have thread lefted.
I sell tires for a living and would have to agree, those are really good tires. had the avid h4s on my 14in steelies and got over 70,000 miles on them.
i have personally used those tires, and they were well worth it. i would recommend them and will probably purchase them again the next time i need tires
i will let you know how they handle negative camber smile.gif

As for negative camber, try the yokohama parada spec x or nitto neo gen they are built specifically for that kind of application.
oh i know haha. i just got coilovers. the back has real bad neg camber but i cant fix it till i get home from school in a few months. so i will be driving around with neg camber in the back for a bit

I'm running on Yokohama S-Drives; I've only had them for about 2500 miles but I REALLY like them so far - except for in the snow. You might as well put skis on the car then. tongue.gif

Just wondering how the s.drive's are doing after you've got some more mileage on them, I'm pretty sure my next set of tires will be these but I just want the added re-assurance that someone with a Celica is very happy with them.

I'd just like to mention that you want to look for tires that would suit your driving style. I just check your profile Saleeka, and I noticed that your Celica is your Daily Driver? Correct me if I'm wrong on that haha. But for a daily driving tire application I would look for a harder compound tire that will last you quite some time along with something that is good for all weather situations. I have ran Khumos on my Celica for the all season application and I went a little more pricey with my performance Falkens, but I have also ran the Falken Ziex ZE912s on my Daily Driver Civic, and those tires have withstood SOO much with my driving style and you can BARELY tell they have 45K on them. They are amazing in the snow, and even better in the rain. Not too noisy and have a great feel. Happy Tire Shopping!

my yokos are lasting even with auto-x on them. little to no noise

they are expensive though
there are the H4S's too

Go with the H4s or V4s. They are awesome in the rain and last forever.
I just ordered myself a set of them yesterday and I'm happy to see all the positive feedback.

Nice having a little reassurance after dropping $350.
I have had the tires now for 3 days and I can say I'm very pleased with them even though they are not even broken in yet.

We got a pretty good storm yesterday so I took my car out in the rain to see how the new tires handle

and I have to say it was a joy being able to give the car full throttle in 1st and have no wheel spin.

(my old summer tires would spin in second if the road was wet)

2 Thumbs way way up on these... thumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif
