Fuel filter replaced and car Seafoamed... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #65290 10 posts Started by Soulend
Hey everyone, almost two weeks ago, i changed my fuel filter (which was a horrible horrible HORRIBLE experience tongue.gif) and that same day, I seafoamed my car. I was getting white/blue-ish smoke before, which i contribute to an oil leak somewhere on the car... that and an exhaust leak. but now, the smoke is worse! redface.gif oh noes.... is this normal? will the car smoke for a while? or is the irregular?

thanks for your help everyone,

Soul
mine didn't smoke past that day...good chance you seafoamed out gunk that plugged a leak and now you know about the existing problem
Very true. Seafoam is good, but with a worn motor it WILL reveal the wear and tear on the motor.

hrm, yeah My friend mentioned this, but he was more joking because he really don't know. this does make me a little sad, lol. its prolly time I get a new engine... I keep saying this but don't have the money xP *sigh*
Did you add seafoam to the gas tank or the oil?
i'm betting oil. maybe even all three. (intake/oil/gas)

The engine in the Celica ST is VERY prone to burning oil. I'm guessing its pretty bad at start up, and gets less severe as the engine gets to temp. probably never fully stopping. 2 of my 3 ST engines burned oil.

Ive seafoam'd before, did you run it afterwards to clear all the good stuff out? I personally love driving with all that smoke pouring out of the back, not sure how other people think about it, but they do clear out of the way.
i'm confused, its smoking from where more now? underhood or tail pipe? try switching to a different oil like valvoline max-life and running some auto trans fluid in your engine oil.

you must run it and throttle all the smoke out and then change oil right away. seafoam has possibilities of wearing out things like gaskets and stuff on a worn motor. Best way to keep your car clean is regular good maintenance. There is no such thing as magic. everything on a car is still done the traditional way. restore and replace and maintain.

If you added the Seafoam to your oil you need to change your oil after a few hundred miles.

Now if you are getting blueish smoke while driving it's not because of an oil leak and has nothing to do with the exhaust leak, you have worn oil control rings around the pistons and that smoke is the oil that's getting past the rings and burning off the cylinder walls, the seafoam that's mixed with your oil is making it thinner and easier to get past the rings which is probably why it appears to have gotten worse.
