So i was at super lube the other day gettin my oil changed. i never did it myself cause its winter but anyways, they checked over my car and they said that my front engine seal was leaking. I have a 1995 GTS with just the stock motor, im not sure which one it is. Is this probelm something really major that i should be worried about? or is it and easy fix that i could do it myself?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

The front main seal is a low-pressure seal, so you could operate your car for a long time with no problem at all, as long as you check the oil regularly. The seal is literally the furthest part back, behind the crank pulley, timing belt cover, and timing belt, so the timing belt should be changed at the same time, along with the water pump.

Don't forget the cam seal and oil pump seals while you're in there. Even if they're not leaking, it's a good idea with a car that age because you don't want to have to do it over again 10k miles down the road when it starts leaking.

Do it when you change your timing belt. In the mean time, keep a close eye on your oil level and top off as needed.

I say that people at a lube-shop don't always know what they're talking about. Now, I doubt they would say you had a leak if you didn't have one, but it may not be from the front crank seal... cause it would suck to dish $300-400 only to find the leak was somewhere else the whole time. You might want to think about having a mechanic take a look at it and see what he thinks the leak is from. Then go from there.

In the meantime, like everyone else said, check your oil level often and keep a quart or two in the car to top it off as needed. I usually check mine everytime I fill up with gas. (about once a week)
