problems with cv axle...? - 6G Celicas Forums

ok, so i got my new cv axles yesterday
and today i put them in
but heres the catch,
at some point between when i drove it into my shop, to the time that i removed the first axle,
it stopped moving
the enging runs
it shifts fine
butt its just not pulling/moving
it ran fine before i drove it in,
so i know its something i did
i just can figure out what
plz help,

1. your english here is poor and this makes it hard for me to understand your issue clearly, can you retype this in a more coherent and clear manner?
2. have you looked to see whats wrong at all yet? looked under the car for leaking fluid, checked for low trans fluid, axles out of place, etc?

1. yes, of course i checked the transmisssion fluid, did a visual overlook of the axles.etc...
2., my english is fine, i just have the habit of pushing enter where i would normally pause in a conversation
but to be honest, i didnt think my english would effect the performance of the car, guess that was just my mistake
so while im dotting my "I"'s and crossing my "T"'s
wanna give another suggestion?


when it first happened it was just during a test run, wand it had no fluid in it
ten seconds later i had put the fluid in
(ok, maybe more than ten seconds, those bottles pour slow)
and the same problem still existed

i know that if one of the axles isn't properly inserted into the transmission, the car will not pull at all.
try jacking up the car and turn one of the wheels, if the opposite wheel doesn't turn then it's probably not installed right.

yea, neither wheel is turning the other, and im beginning to thhink i may have the wrong cv axles
i compared the new ones with the old today
and they were about an inch and a half off
so i gotta find the right parts
but the only problem now is
im just now finding out
that my car has been rebuilt
so i dont have the tranny im supposed to
so im not sure which parts to get

and now the cv axle that i put in
is stucc in... and it doesnt really want to come out
i have spent the last two hours pulling, prying, twisting, shaking, and pretty much any other similiar verb you can think of, but somehow it is stucc. i got the drivers side one off, but the passenger side is the one i cant get out....
anybody have any suggestions?

getting
a
bigger
pry
bar
between
the
inner
axle
joint
and
the
transmission
casing
but
be
careful
that
you
don't
crack
the
case
you
need
to
compare
the
stub
shaft
that
splines
into
the
transmission
between
the
two
axles
to
make
sure
that
they're
identical
are
you
checking
your
fluid
level
correctly
?

You could try having someone use a pry bar from the top while you use a pry bar from the bottom at the same time.

yea, me and my dad fooled with it for an hour or two
with prybars and flatheads
it feels loose, like its just about to come out
but like somehting is catching and stopping it
might be the little ring on the end
like inside the transmission

bacc to the subject though. to be honest, im tired of working on my car
(never thought id say that)
my clutch went out like two weeks ago, and i have been working on it nonstop ever since
almost ready to sell it,
but luccily i have put down the rathcet, and an actual mechanic is going to fix up my car for me
so hopefully he will have more lucc than i do
haha

if the axle gets cocked coming out then the snapring will bind and it'll be very hard to pop out. its best to get it up on a lift, but even then it can be hard. i've had to drop transmissions with the axle in because we could not get leverage on them to get the axle out with the trans in the car. usually one good hard pop with a pry bar gets it.

well i guess my next move is to get it up on a lift
i have to at least get the axle unstucc
before a have the mechanic take a look at it
