Im currently doing ROTC and i know everyone says Cadets are bitches but hey whatever. I personally would love to enlist and get those experiences but how could i pass up free college at an expensive ass school to be an Aerospace Engineer, and then get paid to do it. not to mention i come out as a 2nd LT in the United States Army. Anyways im a huge military buff all around so i give props to anyone who has the courage to go military in any branch. BTW I still get to go to schools like Airborne, Mountain, Sapper, Air Assault, etc etc.

Sappers= elite demo guys or somethin
i served 6 years Army EOD. i ****ing loved it. basic training was a summer camp with counselors that yelled at you. i was in pretty good shape from wrestling in HS so the PT was nothing for me. AIT was the best. i got to blow **** up and handle explosives. how cool is that. when i got out i had a job waiting for me making about 85,000 a year. when iraq kicked off i was offered several jobs to go over there and clean up. salary was 250,000 for a 1 year contract. i passed on that and now im an electrical engineer at Northrop Grumman. GI bill paid for college and im making good money.
best choice i ever made in my life

I guess i missed my chance to preach about the Coast Guard haha, I'm a cadet at the Coast Guard Academy so I know what the ROTC guys are talking about, but seriously any form of the military is a great decision (as long as its your decision) and you can accomplish a lot in the service or after with the skills/leadership training you will receive, enjoy.

Whats up New London. Used to live in Groton till I got shipped out. Have a friend in the coast guard, GM2 now. He loves it, but I still give him crap.

Hey man sorry i ddin't get back to you right away, but it for the army it was real simple, just the basic stuff and security check. AF may be more strict i know they are alot more mental based than the army so im not real sure.

What's up my friend? I have been in the Army for 12 years now. I'm 30 and still at it. Basic training was a blast and I wish I could do it all over again. It's seems tough at first, but nothing compares to working with people from all over and having to put your trust in them. Ya'll are going thru the same thing and it's great(atleast after it's over, lol).
Whatever you decide to do, make sure it's what you really want to do and you are going to dedicate yourself to doing it. The military isn't as bad as some people make it seem. I've been to Iraq twice and I enjoyed the experiences.
Don't do it for money or for some other pleasure, do it because it's where your heart is.
I must say it's good to have a guaranteed job with the way the world is now.
I see someone mentioned all the branches of service to you so the choice is yours.
Just don't go there and get all excited about the lil money you save and overspend. Many guys go deep in debt because of this.
If you need any info just PM me anytime and I'll share whatever info/knowledge I can with you.
G/L............
You have to go through your chain of command when you are done with AIT...
