broke my radiator... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #65670 6 posts Started by luka
so I did some work and while using my floor jack to lower the car, it slid off the jack and my jack punched a nice hole in my radiator...luckily, nothing else was in the way, so now I gotta replace the radiator...

good news, the cars safely on the ground..........
bad news, I just flushed the coolant....

besides OEM, anyone have any recommendations for other outlets?

SPI radiators arent too bad, but you could probably find an Ebay all aluminum one for not too much more than a regular plastic/metal one.

after shopping around, I went with a koyo OE replacement..have an auto tranny and can't use the better ones...
Don't forget to compensate a lil when you remove the radiator, some ATF will spill out from the trans oil cooler on the radiator side, thus less to go around and it has to backfill.

you could have used an external trans cooler, its warm enough where you are that you wouldn't over-cool the fluid by doing that.

did you have something in mind?

If I went with the koyo alluminum racing one...its pretty much double what I paid...and i'd have to pickup the external trans cooler and mount it up...

Figured it'd be alittle too much work for an auto hehe

and yeah, I gotta add some ATF when I get the new one in.
