removing dash - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #65793 6 posts Started by TJH4EVA
i was thinking about removing my dash and center console along with the pillars to get it alll fiberglassed and moded. my question is how hard is it to take the dash out and when i do it do i have to take any wires out thats behind the dash
I'm guessing you mean carbon fiber wrapped?? I don't quite understand the reasoning for fiberglassed... And removing the dash and part is pretty much VERY simple. I suppose it depends on if you have an automatic or manual, mines manual I could have the entire dash dismantalled in 10 minutes tops. Depending on how deep you are planning on going if you intend to take the entire center console out such as arm rest area and what not, the only pita part is the climate control
im talking bout the whole dash because i am going to get it fiberglassed. i am going to get some gauge pod mount added to the dash and paint all the interior plastics a gloss black
If you plan on taking the whole dash out, the chassis wiring harness runs through the back of it. I'm doing this to my alltrac to swap the chassis harness and dash for a better condition one. Very time consuming. Just take your time and the bolts and screws will be obvious. Just take it slow.

ok thanks for the info. i might start tomorrow or this weekend depending on how the weather is
question for you: do you plan on daily driving the car? with a fiberglass dash, a car accident becomes so much more dangerous from what i remember. this is due to how it breaks into small pieces. also if you plan on painting it with a gloss type paint you have to worry about sun reflection. something to think about.
