take a look at that swap thread, its fairly informative, but most of all its motivating... After looking at some of his stuff you will be intrigued to figure out what and how you need to make your car faster. There is a lot of good info on 3sgte swaps on here as well as other engine choices. You'll have to look around at the different options and what you want to get in the end. reliability, cost, power? etc etc. some people turbo their stock motor and some swap, it ALL depends on what you want in the end.
Search around and when you get stuck just ask a question. The people here will be willing to help in a heartbeat as long as it shows you have been looking into it a lot on your own as well.
Good luck, and enjoy the process, its been just as much fun building my car and working through problems as it has been driving it!
