I need all new struts and strut mounts.

The cost for all new stuff nears that of coilovers...

What in this situation would seem the best option with cost/performance taken into account?

The megan coilovers look appealing... but I could likely hit the junkyard to get the strut mounts, and from there new bilstiens are ~300. I have stock springs I purchased from a member here before I realized I'd need new strut mounts.

After much debate it seems going the junkyard route is the most appealing, keeping end costs readily under $500... but any other ideas?

well kyb gr-2 struts plus tanabe df210 lowering springs costs $450 for me including shipping, install is easy if you do research and of course you have to have your own tools. you don't need a torque wrench, even though its recommended. then i bought 4 kyb strut mounts. which cost me $185.

i spent $400 on tein stechs and all four complete struts (KYB GR-2)... it can easily be done... thats new stuff and people are selling used stuff on here all the time... ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a torque wrench! especially on anything that is compressing stressing moving etc... last thing you need is to have your wheel fly off

well that's IMHO. you can always run a little higher and softer setting for comfort then adjust lower and stiffer for performance.

well hes right... but budget is usually a big key...

$400 will get you an 1.5" drop with stock ride
$1200 will get you a good set of coils that you can adjust yourself... ride and height....
its up to you

1200 is too much for coilovers, you can get them under a grand with shipping for ksport, d2, and megans.

Just finally got my torque wrench 3 days ago. I had alignment installed by pros so im good. only thing that probably was torqued down right was my struts. but ive been riding like that for like 6 months now.
