3sgte drawbacks? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #6626 7 posts Started by SleeperCelica
I have a 95 ST and i am looking to change the engine... what are the drawbacks to putting in the 3sgte compared to the 4agze? 4age? What will i have to change if i went with the 3sgte other than the engine itself?

thanks
The 3S-GTE will be more work than the 4A-GZE, and the 4A-GZE will be more work than the 4A-GE.

If you go with the 3S-GTE, you'll need shift linkage cables from a ST204 GT, a tranny from a ST204 GT or a FF 3S-GE tranny, motor mounts from a ST204 GT, and probably a few more parts. Check out Project Celica and search the site for a lot more information on this. >smile.gif>

as far as a disadvantage for swapping the 3s-gte into your Celica ST

you will have to change your motor mounts, axles, tranny, among other things.

you can use the axles from the clip and possibly the motor mounts but the tranny either get a GT tranny, shift cables, blah blah or the same from a Celica SS-II or SS-III

other than that the only drawback is you'll have to get used to the 120 more hp that you will have and how easily you beat camaros and stangs

if you use a camry V6 trany and axles, do you need to swap out the wheel hub?

also, everybody says the camry trany will work but does anyone know exactly what mods need to be made? I saw on one of the links what needs to be changed on an E-153 trany, is this the same thing?

can I use the gt shift linkage?

good luck finding a manual tranny from a 5s camry

and you wont be beating supercharged V8's

who said anything about beating supercharged v8's?

also the tranny we are talking about is from a V6 camry which doesnt have the 5S-FE.. >rolleyes.gif>

well anyway since he was no help try looking at some of the links in the links section
