Topic #66629 10 posts Started by AT916
Hey, i'm new here and I baught a regular 1997 celica ST, but it needs a front bumber. Some guy is selling a st205 front bumber, but I don't know if it will fit my celica. Can someone help me with this?
Oops I made a mistake. it's a regular 97 GT not st.
Huh? If you own a ST, then a GT (ST204) bumper should fit, but if you are getting the GT-4 (ST205) then you'll have to do some work.
it will mount on w/ mods to the crash bar - but will it flush with the hood no. You will need to get all the other parts.

If you want to fit a GT-Four front bumper on your 97 ST (or GT, doesn't matter) you will need the GT-Four crash bar, or cut up your stock one, as well as the GT-Four hood and hood latch. Otherwise it will look like poo poo.

My suggestion is to just get a 96-99 front bumper and bolt it on.

And switch to Firefox, it has spell check built in.

^ he's got a 97.

I guess while Firefox has spell check built in, they're still working on the reading retention feature. laugh.gif

New guy: learn to know and love your friend the Search button, there is a veritable plethora of information on the GT-Four conversion that I'm sure you'll find useful. Just be sure to replace that second b with a p and you'll prolly have much better hits.

I know he has a 97 - hence the suggestion of a 96-99 (post-facelift) bumper. In the event of a GT-Four conversion you'll need to get a ST205 bumper, crash bar (or mod the stock one), hood, latch, etc.

What didn't I retain, pray tell?

Thanks to everyone for the information.

Today I went to go see the bumper and it looks extactly the same as a regular GT's. It doesnt have that opening in between the headlights like most ST205's do.
All ST205 Celicas have the same bumper from the factory:

1994-1995 GT's and ST's have a bumper that looks like this:

1996-1999 GT's and ST's(the ST line was axed after 1997) have a bumper that looks like this:

Any of the non-ST205 bumpers will bolt up without a problem, but because you're post-facelift (3-post spoiler, different front seat design, redesigned front bumper) I would recommend sticking with a 1996-1999 bumper.
