I need help QUICK!! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #66717 9 posts Started by 6G96GT
I have a 1996 Celica GT 2.2 (manual with power everything). I need a new alternator like right now but no one knows if it is the 70 amp or 80 amp. Anyone know???
Thank you. I was able to get the right part and install the alternator before pepboys closed. I just didn't want to get the wrong one and have to make an exchange and then hope I got lucky installing it during the night. Thanks!

if they both have the same connectors and pulley size, then go for the 80 amp.

they do. its a nice, cheap upgrade to just buy the 80amp.

seems like a no brainer, an extra 10 amps can make a difference when you have the headlights on, heat blowing, and rear defrost on when its a cold winter night. i know the alt in my rolla struggles a little with low/high beams on, rear defrost, heater on full blast, and radio playing. i can hear the idle drop a little but the voltage stays at about 13.8-14.0 the whole time. 10 amp doesnt sound like alot, but thats an extra 120-140watts of power available if and when you need it.

the MT and AT alt mounts and plugs up the same on most vehicles, including our celicas
