AEM Electronic Oil Pressure Gauge - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #66795 7 posts Started by 6G96GT
I have a Sunpro Oil Pressure Gauge in my ride right now...it reads 10 PSI at normal operating temp when at idle and about 40 PSI at 3000 rpm. Anyway, I want to upgrade to an electric one and AEM is a good brand.

Is this installation going to be as easy as the Sunpro Gauge installation? Is it accurate compared to a mechanical gauge like my Sunpro?

it should be easier, no hose to run into the cabin, just a couple wires.
it should be at least as accurate as the sunpro.

Just out of curiosity, what brand electric or mechanical are you running for a gauge (oil psi) and do you depend on it for oil pressure security?
i feel like 10 psi is low??? i have a new oil pump on mine so i am not sure what the others run but i know my oil is running low (i'm burning it) when it dips below 25 on idle

Breaking Axles...
No, mine's good. I even called Toyota and had them pull the specs out for my specific year and model (cause I thought that was really low too) and the mech said that OEM spec says it should be a minimum of 4 PSI at idle and at least 35PSI at 3000 RPM. Just call up a local Toyota place near your location. I had the guy double check his sources too because I couldn't believe it. Presure2 informed me his was at about 12 PSI at idle.

Additionally, I even pulled out the Haynes book just now for our gen. and it reads 4.3 PSI at idle.

just FYI, 4.3psi is a MINIMUM reading.
you dont ever wanna see 5psi of oil pressure.
lol
its totally normal to have ~12-15psi at warm idle.

no mine hangs out about there. It goes as low as 10 but never below. I had it tested to be sure everything was good. My mech even said that the oil pressure guage I have now is off a couple psi cause it's cheaper.
