Infiniti G35 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #66878 12 posts Started by NgoFcukinWay
As some probably know, my daily finally kicked the bucket with rod knock kicking in and now i'm looking for a replacement. I'm looking at a 5-spd black/black '95 SC300 as my main choice, but as a back up just in case it sells from under me, I'm looking at 2 different G35s. First one is an '04 6-spd black/black with navi and Brembos @ 58K miles for $16,900 and the second is an '06 6-spd black/black with navi @ 30K miles for $16K.

Anywho, anyone have any experience or thought about them? The one complaint I've heard about the pre-revised models is that there's a slight oiling issue where it burns about a quart of mile every 3K miles or so.

But are there any other problems I should be aware of? Btw, which of the two G35s listed would be a better deal?

Thanks in advance

The G35s are backup to the SC300...?

yeah, cuz the guy's got like 3+ other people lined up for the car and isn't taking a deposit for it, so just in case the car sells before I can get back to it, then a G35 is next on my list. He had 4 other people calling him while I was there today inspecting and test driving the car and he said it's first come first serve and that he's not gonna bother with a deposit. *shrug*

But why is the G35 the backup? Personally, I would rather have a g35 than the sc300
cuz i can pay off the SC300 in cash and insurance would be cheaper; wouldn't have to worry about payments. Buuuuuttt, that's not exactly the topic of the thread. Just wanted some opinions/thoughts on the G35 and the VQ35DE (I think that's the engine).

any car paid off > a fat loan

good luck with the SC300
My vote is deff for the g35 (friend of mine has one supercharged very sick car, but really think about the cost and get what you can afford, living with no car payment is great (not that I would now at the moment.)
There aren't any real major problems I've seen with the G35's coming thru work. My buddy also has one, has had no problems at all. If I could afford it I would get one myself.

If you do get a G35, get the 6 speed. The automatics just don't seem to manage the power as well IMO. Oh and don't plan on driving it in the snow lol
