Help ? on intake used - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #67112 3 posts Started by bdog_v
Hello I have a 94 celica gt 5 speed with header and straight through exhaust. So 3 years ago when I put my cold air intake in it really made a difference. I was fairly happy. However, it is hard to service being that it is between the inner and outer fender. I also don't know if the cold air really helps on this celica. In theory it should make more power with the cold air. However today I hooked up the air filter in the engine bay and it seemed just as quick if not a bit more so. Also I have noticed many of you have it setup this way (in the engine bay) in the pictures I have seen here.

*So has anyone had the cold air setup and then moved it into the engine and noticed any differences????? Did the cold air make a difference?

* I know this has been beat to death but I have researched this over the past 3 years on here and can't come to a decision on how I want to set it up. So anyone messed with this before?

Thanks..........
hey dude, next time just pm people so you dont have to post another topic about intakes!!!!

haha so nobody reply after me ok laugh.gif . And yes i did notice gains. probably from 2-3hp. used to have what i thought was a cold air intake, excpet the filter was siting in front of the radiator. current set-up is on my profile. but the engine sounds better now. pm me if u want more details.

The 'Butt' dyno isn't really sensitive enough to feel an increase of 2 or 3 hp. Depending upon your application / intentions a cold air intake is probably more effective in the long haul so long as it's actually pulling in cold air, but it's really 6 or 1/2 dozen to the other. My guess is that taking air in from the fender is fairly restrictive without modification
