wide body kit info needed - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #67358 16 posts Started by chacha
how wide is too wide for the fenders and how does one go about making it legit....making it looking nice...instead of just adding extra pieces on the fender and molding it on....does one have to roll the fenders? what material is use for the extra flaring and any ideas to make sure the design flows nicely with the curvatures of the celi? Everybody talks of wide body celica...but very few accomplishes it or have mentioned anything about it...it's more of "HERE IT IS" with pics but no DYI or how to properly go about making the body wider...i REALLY want to know how to do the rear panel...I know i can take to mechanics and find one who can try to make it work at a body shop, but even before i go, i need to make sure the idea is presentable so when they work on it...it won't look too RICEY or have the operation on the car go wrong. I know doing this will cost a lot, but there are people out there who do have the money... wink.gif

here is a pic of how the celi's body should like like...it's from a RC nitro in 1/8th scale...

HOPEFULLY something nice like this biggrin.gif:

I sincerely think this thread can be of use if someone or anyone for the fact of the matter can help contribute vital information for people who want to do something like this for their celi...me being one of them.

Interesting looking car, but ditch that hood.
there are a few wide bodys on this site.. someone on here should know who they are, and maybe you can get an idea or two from them.. or just send them a PM.. i pulled my rears and then molded flares.. it all depends how wide you want to go... keep in mind RIMS when you go wide.. you are probably going to have to go with a custom rim, which is alot of money.. also keep in mind your going to need extra space for those wide rims. you dont want that 'sucked in' look w the rims.
i know...im trying to get them out and reply on this thread for any future mods people might want to do like this...hopefully they see it...I don't have any experience or knowledge how much is TOO much for widening...so any gestures would help; if those who have done have any thing they would like to add or things the would do differently if widening the body please add in here. thanks in advance. I took a sample for the RC body and hope to use it as a role model for the real thing....hopefully by looking how the model is, all who have seen it can give an opinion on it too...would that be too wide (comparision to what a wide body should look like to the RC plastic body)...? confused.gif
The RC body is perfect!

The car pic'd I don't like at all.

fabbing up new fenders from fiberglass using the stockers as a guide would probably be easiest... in fact it could be done relatively easily.
i thought the RC body looked good too, despite the little sharp edges under the fender sides..that's something i might base it on...keep the info and opinions coming biggrin.gif
personally i would look for a widebody supra bodykit and fab it to fit the celica. kinda like what Nampetch did using what seems to me like TRD supra 3000gt front fenders, sides & rear quarter panels. it just has that really clean look.
but the easiest way is to just go and buy one already made for the 6gc: REDS modified motors widebody 6gc.

thanks gerald...but that kit is quite expensive...i wanted something like Nampetch...actually the RC body reminded me so much of his work....i guess that would be the best thing to do and use the supra wide body kit... the other REd wide body kit is too elongated...not so clean look to it...reminds me of an alien ship...
hmm the only kinda easy way i think is to lay fiberglass over your existing arches. then take off that fiberglass and cut and extend, then test fit on the stock body arches.

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
i thought about it with fiber glass, but that's a lot to deal with...imma try contacting the REDs modified motor if they're willing to sell teh rear panel and the front fenders for both L/R sides...let's wait and see if they will respond to me
Oh another not soo bright idea, you could use foam to fill up the width, then cut and shape.then once again lay F/G

Am I the only one who thinks the blue one looks like a TC with 6gc lights?

gerald, you have any leads to getting the supra wide fenders and rear panel?
NewToyotaParts.com $9995.00
JapanParts.com $11,108.54
TakaKaira.com $9,824.52
RHDJapan.com $11,368.38

i didn't know there were so many widebody kits for supras out there. a lot of them looked realy nice: Ridox, Tamon, TRD, AbFlug, TopSecret, and ChargeSpeed.
