Greddy Profec B Spec-II settings - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #67700 17 posts Started by speed-CCNP
I just installed a Greddy Profec B Spec-II biggrin.gif I need some help tuning the new toy. I have a 3s-gte so 12psi is the max I should run.

10psi= 68kPa
11psi= 75kPa
12psi= 82kPa
13psi= 89kPa

Boost Mode Lo
Set 38%
Gain 10%
Start Boost 0.65 (x100kPa) (range:0~3.0 x x100kPa)
Warning 0.75 (x100kPa)
Limiter L.20%

Boost Mode Hi
Set 42%
Gain 15%
Start Boost 0.75 (x100kPa)
Warning 0.82 (x100kPa)
Limiter L.30%

I'm not sure about any of the settings. Are there any stickys on this?

Every car is different, but here is the basic idea.

Set: This is the boost u want to run
Gain: This is the responsiveness and spool up of the turbo
Start Boost: Also responsiveness.
Warning: What boost do you want the limiter to kick in, in case you boost too much
Limiter: How much you want the boost to be decreased by, in the event of boosting too much.

So basically, set your SET to the boost level you want to reach. Then Add as much GAIN as possible to get the most responsive spool up. If you add too much GAIN, you will see boost spikes. The START BOOST should be set about .75 bar, like you have it. Change the Warning to 1.00bar and the limiter is probably fine at 30%. Dont set START BOOST and WARNING too closely, because that can cause inconsistent boosting.

Make sense?

Thanks, I think i got it. But 1.0 bar is equal to 14.5 psi, right? Is that too much boost?

Boost Mode Lo
Set 60%
Gain 10%
Start Boost 0.68 (x100kPa)
Warning 0.89 (x100kPa)
Limiter L.20%

Boost Mode Hi
Set 80%
Gain 15%
Start Boost 0.82 (x100kPa)
Warning 1.0 (x100kPa)
Limiter L.30%

No thats not too much boost, as long as you have a front mount intercooler.

I still have the stock top mount IC on the car. I have not install the FMIC yet still in the box.

I thought the boost controller would also help with the rapid acceleration problem I have. When I accelerate too fast the car bogs down also the boost goes well over 18psi. mad.gif
It didn't fix that problem. I keep making change while I commute to work each day.

My latest settings are:
Boost Mode Lo
Gain 5%
Start Boost 0.55
Warning 0.89
Limiter L.20%

I'm not sure why I'm boosting too much.
You will blow your motor if you keep that air to air top mount. Right now, you have ZERO intercooling on your car. install the front mount asap.

When you install a boost controller, you have to make sure you disconnect and cap the second port on the wastegate actuator that goes to the Turbo vsv.

frown.gif don't want to kill the motor!!!

where is the the second port on the wastegate actuator that goes to the Turbo vsv.? do you have a picture?

thanks
I have been trying to figure out how to properly set mine for years... lol

I will return one day.

I gotta get me one of these toys biggrin.gif
OP - Art is right - that TMIC has been known to pop stock Caldina motors in their factory installed proper place. Get that FMIC installed soon.
It's is good for grilling dogs after a nice run tho - there's always a bright side laugh.gif
Nice swap BTW - I had a 4th gen but it never made it into my car unfortunately

biggrin.gif Thanks. I plan to put the FMIC on tomorrow.
i plan to use the clamps but I was told I should have it tig welded together to get maximum PSI.

What are thoughts of the collective?

LOL

welding most of the pipes is best, but you will still need to use a couple of couplers and clamps in some spots anyway.
provided you get high quality silicone couplers, and good clamps, and if your piping is aluminum, its beaded on the ends, you will have no problems with them.
