So has anyone ever seen their oil pressure light come on for just a second or two after making a hard turn? There's a long cloverleaf to get on the interstate, and by the time I'm at the end of it my oil pressure light will just pop on for a second or two. Oil isn't low or anything, so what do you guys think is up?

cheek the oil sensor, its probably loose or it redy to go.

I have heard of some cars during racing events where they make a hard turn and their light comes on but that's at high speed at a sharp turn (from what I've heard) and from what I understand the oil in the block is thrown to one side and leaves little to be pumped up to where it's supposed to go (can actually cause rod bearing damage).

Second thought is maybe your oil pump is worn and isn't working effectively enough to keep efficient during those hard turns. IDK, just a thought on that.

Thanks guys, I'll check the sensor. I thought it could be the oil moving to one side, the turn is almost a full circle.

I have an Autometer oil pressure gauge sitting around here somewhere, I guess I should install it to monitor my pressure.

The oil pickup in the oilpan may have moved from the G's going into the turn. not a big deal. check oil pressure sensor tho

I have a mechanical oil press. gauge myself. I DO recommend it, now that I know the correct PSI numbers, it gives me piece of mind. I also have the idiot light on as well via a T adapter.

Your oil is probably low.

And I x4 it. I had the same problem when my engine burned alot of oil. When I was low, the red oil lamp came on i sharp turns. Refill your oil!

BTW(a bit OT): Is it standard that the orange oil warning lamp is not connected in the gauge cluster? I took it apart some days ago, and noticed that the bulb and socket which light that up were gone.

I've had two 1996 models of Celica (SS-III & GT-Four) and both had their fuel low warning lights go around 100,000kms...
Its not the bulb itself, there's no fuse for it, the fuel level gauge still works, i've put it down to faulty in-tank signal senders in facelift models.

My first Celica was a 1995 model SS-I and had 180,000kms and the light still worked the way it should, and my housemate has a 1994 model which still has a working fuel low warning light.

My guess is that the same thing has happened with your car and the previous owner discovered it wasn't the bulb that was faulty so just left it out since there was no point putting a good bulb back into a light which will never work.

oil level warning light is a common problem (orange light) the level senders here in the UK are >£300

The place where the bulb and socket is gone, is right next to the red oil warning. I think I have my fuel warning light still working, since it appears on the right side of the cluster (where the temperature and gas level is)

There is just nothing there, just a hole ready to be filled with socket and bulb. Pretty weird...

I think your low on oil as well. This would happen to me because I put synthetic in my car and then change the oil every 7500 miles. It just means your car burns a little bit of oil which isnt a bad thing anyways. But after you see the light the first time it will come on more and more around turns that are less sharp. Just add some oil

I cant image your low fuel light would stop working after 100,000 or so kms, unless it comes on every tank... in which case you may have other problems to deal with 201,000 and mine works great! infact it came on this morning because my parents stole it!

Low oil seems to be the issue, maybe even try a thicker oil (5w40) or high milage 5w30

Yeah, I posted my other thread about burning oil. Oil was definitely low, burning off a lot faster than it used to. I use 5w30 Valvoline synthetic, not worth shelling out the money for something high dollar like Mobil1. Still need to do a wet compression test to rule out piston rings, but it's looking like I'm going to be replacing valve seals.

For cars that leak oil, burn oil and whatever, I say no to synthetic. your pretty much just pouring money down the drain.

When ever i hear of this same problem in autox, especially with the modified and prepared classes where the grip they are capable of and the G's they pull are phenominal, they use an oil catch can, or make their own. I never researched them, but maybe that would be a solution?
