if you're low on funds then consider one of those boot replacement kits. Personally id just go ahead and buy a new axle, but if you feel that the rip is recent and hasnt caused any damage then it might be worth a shot. whats 15 bucks compared to 60+ for a replacement cv?
either replace the boot or the entire axle. if you leave it and drive on it, the crack will spread and spray axle grease on the underside/wheel wells.

If its the original axle, you should just replace the boot. The is because it is cheaper than getting a new one but its more annoying to change. lol.

he mechanic at my Toyota shop says those OEM axles are beefier than most cv axle out there, that's why they are worth keeping.
Replace the axel the work that has to be done to replace the boot, You might as well just replace the whole thing.
