How do I remove the header heat shield? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68368 4 posts Started by Tech-Nics
I am trying to remove my heat shield over the header but the bolts are completely rusted and now the bolts are stripped while I was trying to take them off with a 12mm socket. I also added WD40 to try to loosen them up. No luck. Any ideas? I'm trying to take the shield off cause I'm going to be putting on a new header very soon.

Thanks for any help.
If you have stripped the hex on top about the only thing you can do now is to get a good set of vicegrips, some PB blaster to loosen it and get on it. I'd make sure the vicegrips are good and tight the first try cause if you end up making those buts totally round you're gonna be hating it.
Let the PB Blaster sit for a while before you go at it with the vicegrips
