Another Factory Alarm Question - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68483 3 posts Started by Malek
I want my alarm to chirp when I lock and unlock the car. I remember reading something about this problem on here but couldn't find the thread. Soo, I pulled out the alarm book and read how to turn the chirp on. it says something like this:

1. Turn your key to the "ON" position
2. Press and hold both buttons on the key fob until the red LED stays lit in the car.
3. Press the bottom button once. (The lights flash once and the chirp should sound once)
4. Turn the key to "OFF." (The lights flash 3 times and the chirp should sound 3 times)

I did this and the lights flashed when they were supposed to but there were no chirpy chirps. I hear what sounds like a relay in my dash around the fuses but idk if thats for the lights or what. One time, to my surprise it chirped for me long ago and i kept locking and unlocking it to see if it would keep doing it. it did but stopped when i opened the door, never to be heard again.

Anyone have the same problem? Better yet, anyone have a solution? Thank You.

Is your system currently set-up to passively arm? Or just when you lock/unlock using the remote?

If it's passively arming then it will not chirp when you press the remote buttons; you have to set passive arming to off. Also, sometimes my car doesn't chirp when I hit the remote unlock/lock button but other times it does. No idea why.

It is currently set up to lock and unlock when I press the buttons. But I will try turning passive arm on and then off just to see if it's a computer glitch or something. If that doesn't work then I'll go to the dealership and ask. Thanks for the reply!
