Unconventional material for sure...isn't the texture gonna be off?

Good luck!

what you see there is just pottery clay, the last pictures show the layers of plaster and cloth to make a mold, that has been removed already, now I have a mold with the shape of the piece of mud you see on the first pictures, tomorrow, I'll make the first piece using that mold wink.gif then molding to bumper, and prep work for paint. hopefully if weather and time allows I'll be done sunday afternoon

mold after removal

dibs are so effective.... hahaha
rain over the weekend didn't let me do much, so now doing a little everyday

here is how far I got today, the piece is molded, now comes the fun part

Sanding

as far as people calling dibs, I'm still not sure if I will make any of these to sell, I definitely can use the extra cash, but I previous experiences make me hesitant about it
Nice!

I feel sorry for the Celica getting plaster all over it though..

It'll be cool to see the final result.

the bumper will be re-spray when done, the plaster couldn't possible made the bumper look worst that what it was lol, but on the last pictures what you see is fiberglass piece being molded in, no more plaster or pottery clay lol.

hey not bad cant wait to c the finished look
YOU LUCKY DOG! Your wife helpin out like that, how cool is that?

what kinda saw will you use to cut the hole for the grill bro? and are those the same dimensions as the gt4 grill or are you getting something with a more custom touch?

I don't have a GT4 grill to be 100% sure, but base on the mold I made of Jim's front end, GT4 grill will fit with no proboem, but I'm going for something more like this

I think it'll be more unique and wil catch people's eyes more.

laugh.gif that would be funny wouldn't it ?

I may just get a Home depot grill for the time being, a Gt4 grill if I can find a deal on one down the road.

thanks randy

bad news on this

around a month ago, my sister's BF hit my car with his brand spanking new SUV while parking, my high beams were pushed down a little, well, I kind of forgot about this when my wife was making the clay piece and the mold, today I took the bumper off and fixed the headlamps, well, now that they are fixed, the piece sitcks out a little, I would say ~ 1/8 of an inch. I'm still gonna finish it, but I will have to get a second bumper to do it all over again, in order to get a perfect mold to be able to reproduce it for a few friends that need this. kindasad.gif

I have pictures, but I'm lazy right now, so I'll post them some other time. fully painted ( kind of finished ) pictures should be up by friday night

1- I ran out of bondo
2- I don't have the GT4 grill on hand to measure and cut the hole for it
3 while painting I ran out of paint and NO ONE sells it in a spray can around me so had to use duplicolor paint to finish
4- no I could not wait as I'm traveling to MA in the morning, so for now this is how it'll be, Monday I'm off so I'll fix it and cut the hole for the grill on Monday

this is coming out surprisingly well! Nice job Culp!

That looks really good. Keep up the good work.
Looks great! I want that so bad now frown.gif but I'm content with my stock hood and bumper. It's all paid for- just the way I like it. But I've got the same problem you had, with my high beam being pointed down... Sending PM smile.gif
