REPAINTED RIMS AND SPOILER - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68644 23 posts Started by aznpnoiboi55
before i sent my celi off to cali.....i repainted the rims with REAL paint not shoo shoo can...check it out!!

ohhh yah and i also sprayed my spoiler too!!!

let me know what you guys think
You didn't even mask off your tires! That looks terrible!

You should have at least line the lip of your rims with note cards to prevent overspray. It just looks cheap when your tires are just as glossy as your wheels.

I didn't notice it until the above pointed it out...but I'm sure you can get the paint off the tire with some real abrasive cleaner...otherwise, I like the painted spoiler.

Maybe the rims need some clear as well? They look just a little unfinished.

Nice job. smile.gif

im not worrried about the paint on the tires because in a couple of days the paint on the tires just peel right off...so its not a problem to me

thanks....the paint was free from my friend...he gave me the rest of his paint since he had extra....and i borrowed the gun from my grandpa....the paint was a single stage black with wet gloss.....
Good thing you used real paint. You got real paint on the tires too. The black rims and black spoiler looks pretty bad. Might as well put steelies on there it'll look exactly the same. Paint the lip red or something so you get some kind of contrast.

You def. should have taken the time to remove the tire first...or at least mask it off. Paint does not just "peel" off all that easily.

thanks bra
actually some of that paint won't come off just by peeling, you might have to work it a lot harder to remove. But other than that, keep the opinions conservative guys, he is learning much.

LOL - I give the front tires like maybe 3 months before they need to be replaced due to all the extra power and that fun period just after turboing your car.
Screw the haters man - I dig it. The Spoiler looks great too biggrin.gif

thanks dude....thanks again guys
I like the black look. White rims look a little too 90's for me....unless it has a big fat lip!!! You should get someone to pinstripe the lip though. You should have taped the tires up but you live and learn. I do like the spoiler but if it's not carbon fiber eventually it will look too hick. Props go out for being brave though.

wow . teespring.com/savethemanual
nice, came out good imo, a red strip would look bad ass

im in the prosess of spraying a set of factory 5 spokes, but im using the cheap wheel paint canscans but doing it the right way and will last along time the way i did it. which went like this..

pressure washed all 4 wheels after being sprayed with engine degreser

strip wheels with paint stripping whel and soft wire wheel

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

paint wheel with a few coats of self etching primer

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

spray a few coats of paint on the backside of wheel (inside part where the brake assembly is) with gloss black paint

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

spray front face of wheel with aluminum paint, apply a few coats, wet sand after drying

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

sprayed alot of thin coats on face of wheel

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

light wet sand on face

wash with dish soap, rinse, dry

spray face of wheel with adheasion promoter

spray face of wheel with metal effex clear coat, let it get tacky

spray face of wheel with wheel clear coat while metal effex is tacky

let dry
