what's better for our cars haynes or chiltons manual? - 6G Celicas Forums

in a few weeks here i'm going to be replacing my cylinder head and i was wondering what was you guy's take on service manuals. which one covers our cars better haynes or chiltons?

yeah there is one for sale in the uk on ebay right now




That's for the gen 5. There is no haynes book for the 6gc afaik.

$51 USD shipped? Thats awfully expensive... They're $25 at Autozone.

Actually manphibian, that manual is for '86-99 Celicas. It's just the 5gc on the cover

Yeah, I have the haynes, the chiltons and the BGB. The haynes is almost useless imo.
i have both and i think chiltons is better

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte
yeah it is rather expensive, i was just proving that i wasn't crazy lol.so chiltons it is. thanks fellas

lol. yeah i've never seen that book in the UK. i'm not convinced that it has 5 and 6gc......

Is that a US book? If so it won't be sold here as the engines are different....

I would agree with everyone above, the Haynes has plenty of good information, but there are also some VERY vague instructions for some things. I've never owned a Chiltons, but hearing from friends that have owned both, the Chiltons is better.

The Haynes has info for 86-99 (pretty much general info), and the chiltons has specific 6gen stuff. Same size, one is just a bit better than the other. But for me it seems it is ewasier to find a Haynes than a chiltons here.
