I cut and stripped the wires on the stock light and then wired up 2 3mm led's with a 1k ohm 1/2 resistor to them, I'm impressed with my work to tell you the truth, it never turns out this nice the first try.

would a high output 5mm 74 led give the same result?? imma go install my 3mm 74 led tomorrow. nice job thumbsup.gif

I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island
Seems like you did it the hard way. I simply pulled the factory bulb out and replaced it with a type 74 white LED. Only picture I happen to have of it here, but you get the idea. It took less than 5 minutes to get this.

see with my car the bulb was attached to a plastic housing then to 2 wires. The bulb and housing were 1 piece which i couldn't take the bulb out, I 'eventually crushed it and then realized it was just 1 piece so I just worked some magic and vuala

Dang man, that sucks. Your car is a '97, mine is a '98, I wouldn't have thought they changed something like that. But now that you've described it, I know exactly what you are talking about. The ring that goes around my cigarette lighter was the same way.

EDIT: You have white gauge bulbs?

yea i swapped them out for 5way led 74 bulbs

look for 194 168 W5W 2825 Matrix Bulbs Emits Light in all Directions, that's the model number for the bulbs you need to replace the ones behind your gauges, strictly plug and play

Yeah, I've swapped mine out for white LED's too. My dials still have a slight greenish tint to them, but the needles look great. How do you like your bulbs? I'm tempted to get those, since I bought 5-LED bulbs from v-leds.com and they all point straight forward. Granted, the light distribution is fine, no faded spots or anything, but I'm just hoping maybe your bulbs are better than mine about that green tint.

ROFL wtf, you had to wire in a whole new led harness?

no thats the imobiliser all i did with th elight was swap the bulb for an led.
Nice Freddy, I'll have to invest in those. I really don't like the green tint (it's not bad, but it's there) and I definitely don't want to sand the back of my gauges as some members here have done.

Cavegod, your light swap sounds the same as mine- simply pull the bulb out, put the LED in. I love it when things are that simple. Welshcelica (is that the right screen name? I know its Welsh Celica but I can't remember his exact screen name.) had the immobilizer on his car, and had to go through a huge ordeal to get the light ring. Lucky us!
