Vacuum Charcoal Canister - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #69168 4 posts Started by joeladam02
I would like to get rid of it if possible. It has one vacuum input, and two vacuum outputs.
I think the outputs are to the IAC and the FPR.
Can I just hook those two items up to manifold or port vacuum and get rid of the charcoal canister?
It was plugged solid when I took it off, and I was told that this was causing the FPR to dump full fuel pressure constantly.
I was then told that this extra fuel may have greatly accelerated cylinder wash out and made my rings go bad.
I now have two cylinders with very low compression.
Does anyone know if this is true? And can I get rid of the canister? A new one is over $200!
bump. doesn't anyone know if you can bypass this thing?
deleting it will illuminate the CEL.

check your vacuum diagram on the underhood sticker, it should not be hooked to the FPR, FPR should be connected to manifold vacuum.

I've taken all my smog units off before, just plug up all the lines, but it idles very rough and your ECU throws CEL codes left and right like no tomorrow.
Unless you got some aftermarket stuff controlling your fuel and ignition I would leave it on.
