Today I decided to relocate my battery. I'm a novice with electrics so I was a bit hesitant about doing it, but all came out fine and I'm pretty pleased with myself.

I didn't jack the car up or I would have noticed that I could have run the cable through the plastic guard instead of tiestripping it to it. Oh well. Project for another day.

Now drill out the spot welds and get rid of the battery tray, then weld up the holes.

if your careful with a spot weld cutter, you wont even have any holes to weld, just grind the spot welds flat.

just go slow, and just cut thru the top layer of steel, then pop the bracket loose, and grind the welds flat with an angle grinder, or a die grinder with a sanding disk or whatever.

Hey dude, I don't know how safe it is to run that positive cable underneath the car like that, I had lifted my carpet and tucked it underneath.. underneath the rear seats, behind the rear speaker plastics, thru underneath the carpet by the door sill and up through the firewall loom rubber boot i put a 12mm hole in it.

Also its best if you run 2 ground cables, one to the chassis at the back and the other to the original bolt on the engine block. -- We had cold start troubles after having an immobiliser alarm installed, due to not grounding at the engine. adding in this ground to the engine solved the problem.

Thanks! I had read about the cold start issue before. If you look at the 5th picture, you'll notice right by the cone filter, the tip of my engine bay ground that used to be the original negative terminal.
I'll probably end up doing what you suggested with the positive cable just to give it a cleaner look.

Ok, problems already. I decided to take celi to work today and it was fine in the morning. On the way back home this evening, I had the headlights on, and when I pressed the brakes, the lights would dim a little and then return to norml. And when I turn the high beams while driving the car almost shuts off.

Do I need to add another ground?

use 4g wire and ground your tranny (or block) to the chassis and the alternator to chassis too (replace the stock one).

make sure there is a soild/CLEAN connection here in this pic



and make sure your + connections are secure.
