BOV Installation (3SGTE) - 6G Celicas Forums

1. On the 3SGTE swap where is the best place to put the BOV with a FMIC and with a TMIC?
On the TMIC it seems there is only room between the turbo and intercooler piping, but for FMIC's I see it between the intake manifold and intercooler piping.

BUT where is the best place to put it.

2. Also for a FMIC would there still be stalling or hestations when you shift with a BOV that releases into the atmoshphere?

3. I don't really want to go FMIC, so would an IC fan be sufficient enough (I have the GT4 bumper & hood for venting and the front grille seems to be capable of getting air like a scoop(just a speculation.))
if u have the top mount air/air IC then you will need the fan unless you have a hood scoop like on the alltrac, but you have the gt4 hood so you will need the fan to keep the IC from heat soaking

the best place for a BOV would be betweent the turbo and the intercooler but the most common place with a fmic setup is between the throttle body and the intercooler.

if you have a car that runs with a MAF(st185 3sgte) then most likely you will have problems with an open atmosphere BOV.

there are certain BOV's that work with MAF equipped cars, you could look into those.

Yeah the HKS SSQV with the recirculation fitting is a nice BOV, plus even though quieter it sounds good.

For the fan, since the TMIC is closer piping and has constant air, would it be better or as good as a FMIC (or worse)?

During the HoT Times and Traffic Times would a water spray prevent some heat soak?

Also, if you heat shield a lot and heat shield the intercooler(if possible) would that help also?
a heat shield wouldnt really do much since everything would be covered up.

i would say to get a fmic and do some custom piping. there are a few people who have done it on the 3s-gte, they will be able to hook you up with some instructions.
Best place for a BOV is as close to the throttle body as possible.

If you have a BOV recirculate into the intake, it wont make that nice sound you hear.
