Does anyone know a way to change the colour of a headunit without buying a new 1? tried pulling it apart but the lights are not normal leds

It's SMD LEDs. I've changed out a lot of mine, but not all of them. They're slightly difficult to solder but I've gotten good at it over several years and devices of practice.

As for the LCDs in the stock head unit.. not sure how those are lit up or if that could be changed.

I can get you pictures of my headunit as it stands right now if you'd like.

Well you're already there. It's as simple as desoldering them and resoldering them. Once you can see them, it's free game to pull them off and replace them. There's markings on the PCB that shows which orientation they should be (the diode symbol).
